Cache Up NB v2.0 – What’s New & Changed
If you’ve been coming to Cache Up NB since it’s launch, you probably noticed that we changed looks recently and some things are a bit different. Here’s a quick run down on what’s new and what’s changed.
What’s New
- Fresh brighter new look to help folks feel a little bit more welcome
- New slider on the main page to showcase featured articles
- Geocaching.com API integration
- Our Random Cache Widget now pulls from the official GC database
- All GC and TB codes listed in uppercase display information about the item pulled directly from GC.com in a “hover” window. You can then click the link to navigate to that page
We now sport an interactive Google Latitude map which shows where cachers are within NB– Feature has since been removed due to lack of use. – Sept 6, 2012- Cache Up NB is now available for the iPhone and Android devices in their respective app stores
- We have a new user guide for both Cache Up NB and geocaching in general accessible from any page in the upper right hand corner
- The most recently updated pages are shown on the main page in a small “widget”
- Five randomly picked pages are listed on the main page in a “widget”
- People can now submit smaller content (called Quickies) that is displayed on the righthand sidebar. This mimics “forum” posts to allow people to have side conversations outside of the main news reel
What’s Changed
- The navigation menu contains many of the same items previously seen but it has been consolidated with unused items being removed
- Users can now edit their own comments for 15 minutes after they have submitted them
- The comments listing on the sidebar now contains more detail about the comments
- Photos are no longer self-hosted. We use Flickr with the “cacheupnb” tag to allow users to share photos
If you have any questions about any of the new features, or can’t find something you used to use on the old site, please let us know and we’ll try and get it fixed up for you.
