BBW Accommodations/Billeting

The Bye Bye Winter Weekend is fast approaching (April 27-29, 2012) and we’re looking for some ways to encourage as many folks as possible to come to Fredericton to attend the events. It’s a weekend of events and caching starting with the BBW Bowling Shindig on Friday night, the CITO and Flashmob during the day Saturday and the BBW Bash (potluck and BBQ) Saturday evening and ending with the Helloooo Spring Brunch on Sunday.

With so many cachers from “away” we’d like to make it as easy, and inexpensive, as possible for them.  To that end, we have a couple of questions for all you wonderful cachers out there:

1. If you live in the Fredericton area would you be willing to billet or host a cacher (or 2 or more) in your home for the weekend? Please post a comment with your “yes” and state how many you would be able to accomodate and in what area of the city you live.

2. If you live away from Fredericton would you be willing/be comfortable staying with another cacher/couple/family for the weekend? Would you be more willing to attend the events if you had a free place to stay? Please post a comment with the number in your party and number of nights you would potentially be staying.

Keep in mind, some folks may need 2 nights worth of accomodations (Friday and Saturday) and some may need only one (Saturday).

This is all on a completely voluntary basis and right now we’re just trying to see if it’s something we can do to help out cachers who have to travel to attend these events.

milosheart

We're milosheart, also known as Gwen & Terry LeBlanc. We're from Fredericton and have been involved with geocaching since March 2008. When we started caching we each had our own accounts/names. He was Frogger57 and I was milosheart. milo is a nickname of Terry's (from a song he messed up the words to) and, well, I'm his heart (we're still on our honeymoon, 6 yrs on). He logged his first 19 caches then gave up. He loves to go caching, loves the driving, travelling, meeting fellow cachers, searching and finding but could care less about the logging, planning, numbers, etc. He doesn't know how to use the GPS and has no desire to learn, doesn't have a clue what GSAK is, nor care. I love him more for just going with me, blindly sometimes! LOL So we just continued on using my original account and became team milosheart. We cache here in Freddy Beach, Moncton (Terry's hometown), Saint John (my sister and fellow cacher, eebee, lives there) and just about anywhere else we go. Yes, we are addicted. Happily.

  • Actually this is a wonderful idea.

We are looking forward to that weekend but we will not need to be billeted.

  • Tag Along 2 and I have 2 beds and a hide a bed to offer if anyone needs a place that weekend.

  • I have a gift certificate here, for a one night stay, on a weekend, at the Delta Fredericton. The best deal they have now is $129plus tax for a night when you are from the Atlantic, they call it the “atlantic deal or something”. I would let go that voucher for 75$. If you say nothing and just ask for a 2 double bed instead of a king, you could sleep 4 in the room! (I already checked if my voucher was good for 2 double beds instead of a king and it is) Don’t say I told you to cheat, as this voucher is for double occupancy. This voucher HAS to be used before April 30th. Email me if you are interested.

  • Booked my room for the weekend at the Best Western. Whole family will be in tow 🙂

  • We hope to be there at least on Saturday and Sunday. I’ll only know like a week before so we’ll just book something at the hotel. I hope to pick up some caches till then, I’m only at two finds so far in 2012 :(. I’ll have to take a day off and pay a visit to Bathurst or Miramichi to pump that up. Keep up the great work on this nice contest!

  • Any good spots in the area to pitch a tent? (or hang a hammock?)I’m hoping that by the end of April it’ll be warm enough.
