Cache Up NB Banner in Cache Listings

As a way of helping to spread the word of Cache Up NB, many of our readers have been adding their logos into their geocache listings at the bottom. This typically is a logo and a linkback to this site. This has had a tremendous impact on gaining increased visibility to the site so for that, a huge thanks is warranted.

In moving forward, I have created a new “badge” which you are welcome to now use in your cache listings. The image is shown below, along with the HTML code required to embed it into your cache listings. You can also find the same informatio now under Media, CUNB Logos.

If you are currently using just the logo in your listings, please continue to do so. You can change them if you want to but don’t feel that it is necessary.

Use the code in the box below to embed the above logo into your cache listings:

Oh my soul! I was able to do this on a new cache I just created! Whoohoo!, next thing I know I will be a computer wizz.

…. let’s just hope that there is no puzzle cache in the area and it will be published! 😉

Thanks, Zor. I just did one of mine and it worked, then I wondered if I could do it so it would open in a separate window and holy cow! it worked too.

I’m not a computer/techie geek at all, although I wish I was. I wanted to learn how to make my cache pages prettier (don’t give me a hard time, I AM a girl!) so I did some searching in the GC.com forums and found a great website that gives the basics of HTML for your cache pages. It’s really easy to understand and use….hey, if I can, ANYONE can! I did our 2 Bye Bye Winter event pages with pictures, colors and all!

    Try the link here http://www.follow-the-arrow.co.uk/resources/htmlcodes.html

OOps. See, not a geek. Hmmm, how do I fix it. LOL Give me a minute. It really did work on my cache page! GC1R9Q7

LOL A little knowledge can be a dangerous thing.

**Couldn’t fix it so I just edited it. 🙁

In case others wanted to do the same thing:

Using Zor’s code above simply add
        target=”_blank”
after the first http ://www.cacheupnb.com, after the quotation mark and before the right bracket.

I see Zor havs included it in the code above. Excellent. I have my first hide coming out soon and it does incorporate the banner. 🙂

Might want to fix the typo in it, though… there’s an H in geocaching. :p

  • DOH! I cannot believe I missed that. I’ll fix it when I get into the office tomorrow. At least when the image gets replaced here, anyone who’s used the code already will have it updated automatically.

  • I felt so stupid that I had to go fix it before I went to bed. Should be able to reload the image now and see the correction.

I felt kind of bad pointing it out… but would have felt worse NOT pointing it out, as I was already seeing it on several cache listings.

      • Don’t EVER feel bad about pointing something like that out. I really appreciate it actually. Everyone makes mistakes so I’d rather have something like that pointed out and correct it, than have it out there and looking bad 🙂

  • I placed the new banner on the page for ML110. At some point I will have to go and amend ML88 to 109 before they come out

  • Zor, when I cut and paste this code in it works great but when I use the code in the Media section it gives me a broken link symbol.

  • I tried it and it did the same thing. I have now made a change that should hopefully correct that. When you get a chance, try it from the media page again
