Cache Up NB: The Podcast

Well folks, it finally happened. Cache Up NB presents our very first, and hopefully not our last, podcast. In this premiere episode, myself and Rev Slippery sit down and give you the rundown on what we’re hoping to do with future podcasts, and dig in to a pile of various other subjects. Here’s a quick list of what you’ll hear:

  • Tidbits on recent events
  • Rev’s Catamount Trail excursion
  • Recently published caches
  • Puzzle & Wherigo cache commentary
  • The hot-topic of cache maintenance and archiving
  • Upcoming events in NB
  • And much more!

You can play the podcast directly on this site by using the player below, launch it in a new window if you choose to, or simply download the MP3 file and play it on your mobile MP3 player of choice. The podcast is 53 minutes long and does cover a lot of topics.

Please note that this is the very first podcast we have done for Cache Up NB so it IS a work in progress. We are hoping to do more in the future that will cover interviews with other cachers, podcasts specific to one or two debatable topics, and anything else our readers would like to hear.

We greatly appreciate it if you could post your comments on this podcast to this post and let us know what you think. All suggestions and comments are welcome.

  • If you have problems “downloading” it, simply right clickon the “Download” link and choose Save File As (or whatever similar option you have depending on your browser).

Good idea with the podcast. It could be more informative on different subjects than writing it in a post. Also the video idea would be great to see what it’s like geocaching in a specific area, seeing such things as terrain, trail conditions, access points to hard to find caches, etc.

Thanks… first time I hear anything from them. I’m feeling a little disturbed now.

Also, I was thinking along the same lines… It would be great to have viewer feedback by audio or video. I guess much like the mailbag section in other podcast. Would be great to criticize or just comment without typing… LOL. You could then cut out the appropriate audio/video to use on the next show.

What a great idea and first show! It’s great to listen to something local, I am an avid listener of the Podcacher Podcast and the Cache-A-Maniacs I love hearing stories from away, but close to home is great.

Keep up the great work, maybe have area correspondents? Each area has a member do a report for each show about caching in there area, it could be an audio report or a written one that you guys would read. That way you could get even more local, while still staying true to New Brunswick.

    • Great idea Chiefy268, I agree with you on the local stuff. Even though some caching communities are not as busy as others, it would be nice to hear something local from other groups. With facebook communities, there are a lot of things that happen that are not listed on geocaching dot com, yet are still noteworthy.

  • I was thinking you might have used the music from DELIVERANCE.

BTW, MA wanted to buy me a Tshirt that said

History in the making right here!

“Catamount Trail was constructed in 1994 . It started at the junction of the Fundy Footpath, runs parallel to the Quiddy River, continued across Cross Rd, up to Pigeons Camp, crosses the Shepody Rd , and continued to Adair’s Lodge, and towards Cedar Camp. The intention was to continue to Sussex Corner. The section between Adair’s Lodge to the Shepody Rd is the only continuous section that is currently maintained . Recent forestry operations had obscured other sections. Trail Crew Volunteers are in the process of recovering this section.”
