Pa's Caching Tales

Caching with MA or Caching with Belladan

MA and I have gone caching many times with Belladan. However if the plan is to do car caching in rural areas, MA will sometimes decide to stay home and Dan and I head out without her.

Caching alone with Belladan is not the same as caching alone with MA.

Here is how they react in similar situations.

**************
DAN: It is just at the edge of the woods, I will get it.

MA: It is on your side of the car.

*******

DAN: That ditch is pretty wide. I can hop over, no problem. You wait here.

MA: I think it is less deep over there. Try there. Don’t get mud on your pants.

*****

Dan: Grab my hand, that is a steep hill.

MA: Don’t fall in the mud climbing that hill.

*******

DAN:The cache is about 250 meters down that side trail. Your car should be able to handle that.

MA: Park here we need the exercise.

****************

DAN: There are 4 caches down that road. If you drive with your left wheel on the mound in the center, the car wont hit bottom.

MA: Another nice walk. Park here.

**************

DAN: Turn down here, the road looks a little damp but it has a solid base, and the cache is only 2 kms.

MA: Road looks muddy and has deep water holes. Lets come back in summer.

************************

DAN: We cant go any further down this road. I will get out and help you make a 10 point turn

MA: Arent you glad we decided to walk down this road.`

********************

DAN: Don’t tell MA we drove here.

MA: How would you have gone for this cache with DAN.

  • So lets get this right, when Pa goes caching with Ma, Ma will make him get out of the car and go find the cache.
When Pa goes with Dan, Dan will sometimes tell him to stay in the car. Is that right ???

Also I have noticed from some of the logs that Ma will make the find while Pa is still walking in circles. How does this work with Dan, when Pa actually gets out of the car ??????

  • PA goes looking for caches, its just that Dan tries to help the old guy.

Actually MA says that PA is good at looking for caches and that MA is good at finding caches

    • MA and I do a lot of caching and I tend to talk a lot about our trips and adventures. When CacheUpNB began, Zor created a category called Pa’s Caching Tales. If you go back in the history of that category, you will find I wrote a lot of stuff. I have written a lot less lately but when I do write, I put it in that category.

Quickies did not exist back then and I don’t know if there is a definition of what goes in Quickies. Maybe this item should go in Quickies but I actually have no idea how to post in Quickies.

Also, I am not crazy about the Quickies as there is no update at the side of the page to indicate when a comment has been added. So I have to click on each item to see if someone has posted a comment

Finally I would like to add that I wrote this as a humour piece, with lots of exaggeration

  • Hilarious. I can actually hear Ma’s voice, you have captured that to perfection. However, perhaps not so many of the details bear the same scrutiny. I do believe that Pa has taken “writer’s prerogative” and “distorted” a few of the truths. Fact: when we have cached with Ma & Pa, it is always Ma who jumps out of the vehicle and heads for the cache. I know that Ma’s eye-sight is much keener, but she also has a lot more “adrenelin” happening for her. Pa generally seems happy to “guard” the vehicle.

Tetagoucher: shame on you for that sexual innuendo – you must know that there is no such thing as a “quickie” once you pass 47! After that, well, its always slow and pleasurable. Just like this post 🙂

  • Well I read your comment chatelaine and I wanted to say something about the last paragraph. I wanted to say that I found the comment to be,… hmm, well it was ah,..hmmm… . well it was a little bit ah,.. well it was .. Oh never mind

So I will comment on your first paragraph. I am not really guarding the vehicle. What I am actually doing when I get out of the car is slowly figuring stuff out in order for the search to be successful and pleasurable. It is my slow and pleasurable approach.

    PAul

  • Pa,it’s sort of like the tortoise and the hare 🙂

That said, while it was not my intention, you know that I am going to take credit for being one of the few that ever put Pa in a place where he was at a loss for words!
