Dream Cache

When I started geocaching, I kinda went nuts. It happens sometimes at different stage of my life, I find a new cool thing and I am in all the way until I find something else. Kind of a strange all or nothing thing. Rev taught me that.

Anyhow, I used to watch (get an email for each log) all the finds around my area, all the ones in a 25 miles radius from our cottage in the Acadian Peninsula (we sold it), a list of probably 100 very nice caches in NB, and probably as much around the world.

I used to get close to 300 emails a day, which I used to read here and there before going to bed. My watch list is now down to 75 caches. Some are archived but I still keep them in that list for the coordinates just in case I get to go to those area one day. All 75 are mostly for the location itself, not so much for the cache. Some are locations in movies, but most are nice waterfalls or nice scenic spots.

I wanted to share a couple with you, and I think it would be fun for others to show a couple of those, so maybe I can get to put more on my list now that I am kinda back into caching.

On top of my list is GC3TTVD, the famous magic bus where Christopher McCandless, met his end. For those of you who don’t know who he was, here is a link (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_McCandless). You may want to read the book by Jon Krakawer who also wrote about the most media attentioned Everest tragedy. Awesome book. They also made a movie called Into the wild. I think it would be awesome to step in the last trail he ever hiked and get to see this magic bus! Anyhow, the cache is on top of my list.

GC6B2B would have been a cool cache to go to. Archived in 2003, I keep it in my list just for the coordinates. It is the location of the haunted house in the movie Blair Witch Project. They had to torn down the house as to many were venturing in it, and the cache has been gone since. I keep it in case I win the lotto and want to spend a October 31st night in a hunted place. If you know someone as weird, feel free to share the coordinates.

I have a few from The Major Family, Dr Livingstones, RedWitch, and so forth. Many archived, but great locations.

Do any of you have some of those to share with us?

  • Forgot to talk about this one. GC123NG
Probably gone, Never been found, but could still be cool to give it a try. Maybe a boat ride event, we all chip in for a boat ride and go for that one? Certainly not mentionning that it is an event to get a cache 🙂
Just planting the seed for the event makers outthere. Could be a fun adventure.

  • I found that Blair Witch cache back in April 2003 when I was living about 5-10 miles away from the cache location. Kinda neat to see this on your list !

    • That looks like a pretty interesting cache. I’ll definitely have to check it out

      • Maybe interesting for kids to hear the story and then go find the cache, which actually is an easy find

  • Went for some interesting caches a few times lately (and maybe again tomorrow) in the Sackville area. Will provide details later.

  • I don’t know if I would call them dream caches but the few I found in New York City were caches I have been eyeing for a few years now. Like the virtuals in Central park and the multi on the Brooklyn Bridge or the water front or tiny little hidden parks. Just like the caches in the woods bring you to waterfalls or great vistas, the caches in NYC bring you to cool little parks, statues and neat buildings all with a history lesson. I love all types of caches, some times the LPC is just what we need to itch the geocaching scratch.
