Geocaching Coming to Kouchibouguac National Park

parks canada
Cache Up NB is proud to announce that we have partnered with Kouchibouguac National Park to launch their first ever geocaching program.

Spearheaded by our own TheNinjaJedi, Cache Up NB has been working hard with NB’s second national park to launch a geocoin/geocaching challenge program for their park. Thanks to the hard work of TheNinjaJedi, we are now happy to announce that this program is moving forward.

If you’ve been to the park lately, you may have already seen on their calendar that August 30th is listed as the geocaching challenge day.

We are currently finalizing the plans for the actual event itself, and are in the process of hiding the caches. The event should be published very soon, and you’ll then be able to make your plans for attendance.

Similar to the Fundy National Park program, cachers will find caches within Kouchibouguac and then be rewarded with a Parks Canada coin. These coins have previously never been seen or used in this part of Canada.

Because this year is the first year for this park to try out a geocaching program, they have opted to go with the Parks Canada coins, instead of trackable geocoins. We know that a big draw for many folks is the trackable coin, but the park is looking at a long term plan for geocaching there. That plan includes trackable geocoins, but they need the support of the geocaching community to come out and attend the very first official event there.

Specifics about the listing and other information will be posted online as soon as we have that information.

See you there!

  • Sounds great. We love Kouchi. We may have company at home at that time, but we will try and make it. The Park is well located to get cachers for the day from Moncton and Miramichi areas. I was thinking that a trackable coin and an event during the early summer would bring in caching tourists from QC

  • If you time a future event there with the Quebec construction holiday, you’ll get them off Parlee beach and at the park instead. 😉

    • Actually there has always been a large number of Quebecois at Kouchi. They love the inexpensive camping, the beach and the biking. They also love the fact that it is a french area.

We were there last weekend and there was an incredible number of QC cars with bikes on them. All I heard on the boardwalk and beach was french.
