Instant Notifications

Can anyone out there help with our problem? We rarely get notifications of new caches or events. I reset the distance to 50 miles, 100 miles and next time I look because we didn’t get a notification…it says 10 miles.  I have ticked off the boxes for new notifications, archived, etc. Does anyone else have this problem? What am I doing wrong?

Thanks, CD

Hmm, married with one adult daughter, 1 son in law, 2 granddaughters and 2 cats. We enjoy spending time at the beach, motorcycling and travelling , of course, we fit caching in when ever we can. One of us is a Maintenance Supervisor at the Hopewell Rocks and one of us is a Foot Care Nurse.

  • Hope you don’t mind. I changed the category to something a bit more fitting. I didn’t have one so I made one that made sense for this kind of thing.

Do a copy of the pocket inquiry and change it. Then save to a new name. That should clear up the problem. Ken

Move every time your clear out a 10 mile area?

Wish I could help, it works fine for me. I actually reduced my range, I was getting too many and I haven’t had time to go get them so it was starting to get to me.

  • We had problems after GC.com did their major change. As I recall it changed the distance for ours so we went and changed it back.

I went today to review our notification and noticed that a separate notification is required for each type of cache. The one we had was set for traditional caches. So we created two new ones for events and puzzles.

Maybe yours is not set for traditionals.

In your profile on the right side of the page, go in to notifications. In your notifications list, to the right side it says edit. I just checked all of ours see to what they were set for. We have them all set at 80 kms, which I believe is the maximum distance.
We had trouble not getting all notifications that we should get. I wrote to geocaching.com to ask about it a coule of weeks ago. They were investigating why this was happening. I was asked to send the actual GC numbers for any caches, that I didn’t get notified of but should have received notification of, to help them check into the problem.
