How do I register my username on this site?

From the main page, click on the “Register” link along the right hand side and you will be prompted to put in a username & email address. Once you have submitted the form, you will receive an email from this site informing you of your password.

How can I contribute to this site?

The most common way for you to contribute to this community is to comment on the pages and posts that appear on both the main page, and subsequent pages. The comments made by the locals add to the meaning and purpose behind each post. We strive to take our community commentary seriously and want to make it an active part of each post. You must be a registered user to comment and your first comment will have to be “approved” by a moderator but all subsequent comments afterwards will post immediately.

There is also a “Submit News” link along the top navigation bar that allows you to submit any article you want to have added to the site. All registered users have the ability to submit news, but every submission is reviewed by a site admin before being posted. If the article is something that would be useful to add to the top navigation menu, it will be added with the author’s permission and credit.

If you wish to become a regular contributor, you can contact one of the administrators about having your site permissions increased to bypass the approval process.

How can I add images to a news submission?

Anyone who submits an article can use the “Embed” icon on the toolbar to embed an image that is located on another server somewhere. You simply put in the URL to the image and it will be displayed within your post.

If you know the image you want to add exists on another web page somewhere, you should be able to navigate to that site, right click on the image, and choose “Copy Link Location” (or something similar). This is the link you can use to embed it into your post.

Uploading of images to this site is only permitted for users who contribute to the main articles on a regular basis.  If you would like to become a regular contributor, feel free to contact an administrator and they may increase your writing authority on this site.

What’s the difference between this site and the MGA & ACGA?

Both the MGA and the ACGA serve as “associations” for cachers within eastern Canada (east of Quebec). Both of those sites have their own content and message boards, both with unique information. This site is meant more as a community & news portal for New Brunswick geocachers. Cachers from any province (or anywhere) are welcome to participate here but we focus mainly on geocaching activities and resources located within the province of New Brunswick.

We strive to differ ourselves from other regional sites mainly by the content and frequency of our updates. This site is updated in one form or another every week, sometimes every day. Whether it be links to cool software, stories about caching adventures, or simply a tip on how to get more than 1000 caches on a Garmin Legend, we’re here to help bring cachers together, and give them as much information as we possibly can.

How do I get a picture beside my posts/comments (an avatar)?

You have two options.

  1. Navigate to www.gravatar.com and sign up for an account using the same email address you used for this site. Gravatar is a site used to house your avatar and use it on multiple websites. This saves you from having to upload and manage your avatar on multiple sites. Simply upload it there, and it will automatically link to your account here as long as you use the same email address.
  2. You can go into your profile (found under your username on the upper-right hand side of the website) and use the upload local avatar option found near the bottom.

Any avatar used by a user of this site that is deemed “inappropriate” will have the avatar removed by an administrator.
