CacheMate
CacheMate is a geocaching application designed for mobile devices. It is available for Palm, Android, Pocket PC, and Windows Smartphones.
Cachemate is intended to serve as a companion product for those who do not have a GPS that fully supports paperless caching.
Unless you have a relatively new GPS unit, it is very likely that your GPS does not have the ability to display the entire cache description, hint, logs of previous finds/DNF’s, and other attributes about a cache. All of this information can be extremely helpful when you are in the field and trying to find a particularly hard cache. Heck, even the simple ones sometimes can be hard to find so any piece of information you can get about a cache can be helpful.
This is where Cachemate comes in. Regardless of whatever platform your run it on, you simply import your GPS pocket query file into the application, and it merges it into it’s own database, much like GSAK. You can then import more GPX files if you want and can then search for whatever cache you are looking at, and gain more info.
You also have the ability to “log” your finds from within Cachemate, and then using a series of macros with GSAK, you can log them online.
If you are not in the market for a new GPS, but already have a PDA or smartphone, you may want to consider purchasing a copy of Cachemate. It is definitely worth it.
