Notable Cachers
After you have cached for awhile within our province, there are always certain names that pop up and you associate them with good quality geocaches. There’s also folks that have contributed countless hours of time and effort to improving the quality of geocaching in our province. And sadly, there are a few cachers who are no longer with us but are still remembered by those who knew them.
This section will attempt to send a “kudos” to them for their work within our geocaching community. Please be sure to check the specific links found under this section on the navigation menu.

I find that there seems to be 2 main groups of cachgers around here right now. In NB We have the vetrans with 5000+ finds like Jim52, Markirene, Incepit, HillbillyBob, Ma&Pa, Sportsman01 and TheRetiredhiker&Sprucegum. Then there is a group from 4000 down to 1500 that is very active as well with many excellent cachers, too hard to just name one or even a bunch. We are lucky to have these cachers around.
It’s great to see that Hillbilly Bob is out caching again.
He has hidden many fine caches on the Dobson trail.
I would first like to give kudos to Insp Gadget for being influential to Geocaching in New Brunswick from the start. He hid the first cache in the Province and in the early days promoted Geocaching every chance he could. Geocaching in the Province would probably not be were it is today with over 8000 active caches if not for his efforts…
Next would be to Shawn&Holly for taking on the daunting task of being a cache reviewer. Their dedication has allowed us the privileged to find those caches we all enjoy searching for. Their patience and teachings have also proved to be beneficial when it comes to hiding safe and quality caches. I would personally like to see them making post again with important information regarding Geocaching in the Province…
I would also like to give a shout out to the late Casperkb for inviting me and introducing me to the authentic Maritime Geocaching Association. His influence from the start of my Geocaching career has provided me with endless hours of joy. If not for him I probably would never have hid as many caches as I did. He also led by example by hiding quality caches which as a result rubbed off on many of us…
One Geocacher I never knew but always enjoyed finding caches by was Dr.Livingstone. He was all about location and took you to some of the best places the Province has to offer. It’s unfortunate that he/she never stuck around as far as I know of. However I did stumble upon a website from the same individual that shows you where these locations are. As such I thankfully have found and hidden a cache at Wallace falls that I would not have otherwise known about…
Today however we can enjoy some of the same awesome location and great quality caches from The Major Family. They don’t seem to cache much but when they do they make it worth it by going to and leaving us caches in unbelievable areas. I don’t think they could hide a lame cache if they tried…
A lesser know Geocaching family is the Esconderdors. I’m not sure if they still cache but they where one of the first to think outside of the box in my area. They hid may creative caches and took the extra step into hiding a cache that one would remember…
Who could leave out Jim52? He has done many great things but the one I admire the most is his numbers. He is a leader in New Brunswick when it comes to finding the most caches and I think we all take pride into calling him one of our own…
A big kudos goes out to HillbillyBob for simply introducing me to the wonderful Dobson Trail one cache at a time. He also leaves nice comments when finding a cache and he defiantly is someone I look up to…
Also I must not forget the lovely Ma&Pa for just simply being an inspiration. I always admire these people who do so much and want to share their stories. I enjoy reading Pa’s post on here that he will post frequently. Also any log entry is a good read and for a great read try their Appalachian Trail journals. These are wonderful people that we all admire…
Another kudo goes out to milosheart for building such a great Geocaching community in the Fredericton area. They are one of the ideal Geocaching couples. One with the sense of adventure and the other with the patience and love to put up with it
I’d also like to send out a thankyou if nothing else to Greybeast for putting Bathurst back on the map as a caching destination. I enjoy going out searching for your caches every time I’m able to head North…
Finally a kudos to Zor for making this site what it is and not pretending it’s something else. I get much joy out of coming here everyday and reading and sharing ideas and stories. It brings much joy into our lives and I’m glad we have a place to do it… Thanks!
There are many others that are well deserving but I’ll leave that to all of you. I just wanted to share those who have had an impact into my Geocaching experiences in one for or the other…
A big thank you to all of you involved in Geocaching and who make it an enjoyable way of life for all of us to experience.
It was not my intentions to make it all one big paragraph as I was using tabs. They must not work here and also I noticed a few improperly used words and since I don’t think we have the option to edit I would hope you know what I was trying to say…
Great post Tetagoucher and you have some good hides out there on some lesser know trails, which I have enjoyed. I like that fact that you focus on some of then things that seems to be forgotten sometimes, like geotrash and quality places, not parking lots, Thanks.
