Workshops & Training Programs
Along with many of the other events and activities Cache Up NB participates in, we are also heavily involved in actively promoting geocaching through our workshop and training programs. Whether you are a volunteer organization, or a large corporation, we have various workshops and courses we can offer to your organization.
Geocaching is a great activity that combines both the use of technology and the outdoors. We are recognized as experts in the field of geocaching and can provide both introduction and advanced sessions on the topic. Our lead instructor for our programs works as a professional trainer and is able to provide you the highest quality of service.
Not For Profit Programs
Our non-profit programs are education-centric and are really designed to provide information to locals about a particular geocaching topic. These programs are offered to non-profit organizations as well as occasionally to the local geocaching community through officially listed Geocaching.Com events. The sessions we offer include:
- Introduction to Geocaching
- This is typically a a basic introduction into the world of geocaching. Topics include the history of geocaching, geocache types/sizes/terrains, GPS use, and other introductory topics.
- Sessions usually run about two hours and include all students going out and trying to find a few geocaches near to the classroom
- Introduction to GSAK
- This course is a basic introduction into the world of GSAK. The Geocaching Swiss Army Knife is the end-all be-all of geocaching software out there. Due to it’s complexity, many users don’t want to try using it on their own. We introduce new users to how it works, using filters, geocaching.com integration, and much more of the basics.
- Advanced GSAK
- A level “2” course, this class involves showing students how to do things like automate their logging, execute macros, work with maps, and other advanced topics
- Introduction to Wherigo
- Wherigo is an outdoor adventure program created by Groundspeak that mixes a bit of geocaching with old school video game type story telling. This session is designed to introduce people to the concept of how Wherigo works, how the cartridges are built, and how to play them
- Introduction to GPS
- This is a basic introduction into the world of GPS technology. Topics include the history of GPS, navigation basics, GPS pros and cons, and a hands on session of navigating your GPS and the outdoors using it.
Corporate Team Building Programs
We offer corporate team building sessions centered around geocaching and GPS navigation on a pay per session basis. These workshops are typically longer and more tightly focused for corporate groups and consist of both a theory and hands on component. Our corporate programs currently consist of:
- Introduction to Geocaching
