Moncton’s Race For Cache – 2014

Time for a shameless plug of my own event…

I skipped last year because of the mega but this year we are back in business for 2014.

If you’ve never heard of the race then perhaps it’s time for you to learn a bit more about it.

Moncton’s Race For Cache is an annual geocaching event inspired by the reality TV show The Amazing Race. Racers start at Bore Park in Moncton where they are given a clue and then sent off into the city. Racers consist of teams of two or more geocachers who receive clues after completing various tasks around the city. Each clue has a set of GPS coordinates that direct them to a location where they must find something or perform a task. Some of the tasks from previous races include:

  • Swinging off the Tarzan rope at the Dieppe Aquatic Centre
  • Drinking a weird cocktail from Mooser’s
  • Racing around the Go-Kart track at Magnetic Hill
  • Deciphering a clue found on the Moncton Honda pixelboard
  • Finding a set of coordinates in a copy of the Times-Transcript newspaper
  • Shooting basketballs at the YMCA
  • Playing skee-ball at Crystal Palace
  • And many, MANY more

Each task completed earns the team points. Along with the tasks, teams are given other opportunities to earn extra points in an effort to win the race. There are three prizes awarded at the finish line:

  • FTF (First to Finish)
  • Highest Score (winner)
  • Most Honest Score (lowest score)

Along with the three prizes, there is also a big BBQ held for all of the participating racers and volunteers. Door prizes and 50/50 are also awarded at the BBQ.

The event is being held on August 9th, 2014.

GC4WYJ4 is the GC code for the event.

If you think you have what it takes to win, register your team now at www.monctonsraceforcache.com.
