NewsPa's Caching Tales

14 consecutive caching days

Since we left home, we have cached 14 straight days.  I have been wanting to write something about the great caches on the trip,  as well as the different hiding techniques, etc.  But we have been so busy.  Here is a short summary

We get up in the morning, head for breakfast, and cache all day. We have had tons of hiking and bike trails and great caches. We ususally are caching before 9 and cache till at least 5.  We skip lunch and have fruit as snacks.  We have a good supper, then back to the hotel to log and plan the next day.  We try and get in the hot tub and pool and are in bed early, exhausted.  The next morning  we are up early and get to it  again.

Today for example we cached for over 8 hours on Mont Bellevue in Sherbrooke.  Lots of hiking and climbing and a lot of bushwacking because some of the area is wild with unused and overgrown trails.

But we are having a great time.  462 caches in 14 days. I will try and do some writing when we get to Ottawa in the middle of next week.

  • Wow, that is a LOT of caches. Here I was hoping to just get to shortly under 2000 before July. Frig, if I was caching like you, I’d have that in a few weeks.

I hurt just reading about it, although the hot tub part sounds good. Travel safe.

Hurry up and come home. Some guy by the name of ZOR placed 100 and some caches in Albert County. I figure with Ma’s driving and Chignecto duo’s knowledge of the back roads of Albert Co. We sould be good for the day.

    Have fun

  • Well it is now 16 days (519 caches). We finished off the day today at the event celebrating 10000 caches for the Sunnygirls. We brought Bernie the travelling geocache with us in case some had not seen the cache, although at least 35 cachers signed the log at last weekend’s event.

Well, it is lucky we brought him with us, because many signed the log, including one person who made a 3 hour trip from Montreal to see Bernie for 15 minutes and then left and drove 3 hours back home. You gotta be crazy to be a geocacher.

  • Wow that’s a lot of caches for sure. We’ve been doing this for almost a year and we are at 275, a little over the half of what you guys did in 16 days haha. I can’t wait for this summer to go on geocaching trips, the Maritime Mega comes to mind ;-). I think we are getting hooked pretty bad to this…

  • Still too busy to write a new post but still enough time to brag. Left our daughter’s place Monday morning, to head home. But now it is Tuesday night and we just made it to the NB border. Now 26 consecutive days of caching for a grand total of 700 caches during that period. Our plan is to make it home tomorrow. Hope the caching does not delay us too much.
