A Fun Filled Family Weekend in Freddy

Come on up, down or over to Freddy for our Bye Bye Winter Weekend, a fun-filled family weekend of events from April 27th -29th. We kick things off Friday night with the Bowling Shindig, then a CITO event Saturday morning, a flash mob Saturday afternoon and the BBW Bash Saturday evening. We’ll finish the weekend off with the Hellooo Spring Brunch at the Ramada Inn Sunday morning and the best brunch in town.

We will be announcing the winners and awarding the prizes for the Come Out & Play Contest during the Bash Saturday evening at the lodge at Killarney Lake. You don’t want to miss that!

We are looking for a few good men…and women, to help us out at the Bash. We’re looking for someone to man the “greet and log” table (a fabulous way to meet everyone!), a BBQ king or two to man the grill and someone to help in the kitchen with the food set up. If you can volunteer for an hour or so to help us feed 120 or so hungry cachers, please let us know.

We still have some local cachers who are graciously opening their homes to anyone who wishes to spend a night or two. Just let us know (milosheart@gmail.com) or contact Madpuck, madriverrunners or moongrrrl through their GC.com profiles.

We’ve received some support from vendors again this year but if anyone has anything they wish to donate for door prizes or contest prizes it would be greatly appreciated! Just send us an email.

It’s shaping up to be another great weekend of events and there will be plenty of opportunity to find some of the hundreds of caches in the Fredericton area. We hope to see you there!

The events are:

GC3C7TJ Bye Bye Winter Bowling Shindig

GCXXXX CITO (not yet published)

GC392ET Bye Bye Winter Fat Flash Mob

GC3C7XM Bye Bye Winter Bash

GC3C635 Hellooo Spring Brunch

milosheart

We're milosheart, also known as Gwen & Terry LeBlanc. We're from Fredericton and have been involved with geocaching since March 2008. When we started caching we each had our own accounts/names. He was Frogger57 and I was milosheart. milo is a nickname of Terry's (from a song he messed up the words to) and, well, I'm his heart (we're still on our honeymoon, 6 yrs on). He logged his first 19 caches then gave up. He loves to go caching, loves the driving, travelling, meeting fellow cachers, searching and finding but could care less about the logging, planning, numbers, etc. He doesn't know how to use the GPS and has no desire to learn, doesn't have a clue what GSAK is, nor care. I love him more for just going with me, blindly sometimes! LOL So we just continued on using my original account and became team milosheart. We cache here in Freddy Beach, Moncton (Terry's hometown), Saint John (my sister and fellow cacher, eebee, lives there) and just about anywhere else we go. Yes, we are addicted. Happily.

  • We are flying back home on April 25. We wanted to be sure that we would be back for the FREDDY WEEKEND. We will certainly do our best to participate in the weekend events again this year and do some caching in Freddy.

  • Cache Up NB can donate a couple of stocked ammo cans as prizes. I’ll bring them with me.

  • haha good thing I checked this page, I thought the bye bye bash was the weekend of the 20-22 🙁 now it seems so much farther away. ill have to fix that tomorrow at work.

    • Has it always been these dates? must be blindness from my hard core caching due to the challenges itself. Either that or I’m loosing it

  • Army.of.two, yes, the BBW Weekend has been planned for this weekend since last November when we had to book the venue. We (milosheart) are away from the 14th – 23rd so really had no choice but to pick this weekend. Hope you can make it!! 🙂

  • oh yes in will make sure to be there, good thing I caught it before the schedule came out as I can still book it off, I was really excited, now it seems still quite far away. We had a blast last year and didnt participate in the challenge, this year we were part of it so I feel it will be events that we can’t miss. Stories to share and hear, we wouldn’t miss it for the world. hahah I’m not sure why I thought it was the 20-22, kinda weird. We are super pumped oh and if you need someone to man the log book we would be down! like you said a good way to meet all the caching folks.

  • Would like to help out at the Bye Bye Winter Bash, whatever needs to be done, also not sure about how to contribute food wise, do I just show up with food for the BBQ or salads or both /

Last question…is this event for all members or only those that particpated in the Winter Challenege…would like to bring a new cacher ?

    Thanks
    Troublebug

  • Army.of.two – we’ll put you on the greet/log in table for the first hour or so. Thanks!! 🙂

Troublebug – the BBW Bash is open to all cachers and families, whether you participated in the contest or not so bring your new cacher. All of the BBW Weekend events are for everyone. 🙂 As far as the food goes, it’s a pot luck so bring whatever you want. Some folks bring salads, some bring a dozen hotdogs or burgers and buns, others bring casseroles or veggie trays. We take what we get. 🙂 And we’ll put you to work for a bit, too! Thank you!

  • Don’t for get to get your will attend logged for the events so the organizers know how many to plan for!!
