Any great ideas out there?

I was just out in my garage painting containers, taping containers, adding hooks, adding log sheets and got to thinking about how all the 200+ containers I have ready are just like 95% of the other containers out there. Not that I have a problem with 35mm, peanut butter, tobacco or most other common and “cheap” containers but I would love to do something different.

I also assume that many of you think the same thing most days. I have a few ideas for different things and ways to make the mundane a little different. Nemo has done a few simple but different things  lately with locks and misdirection which is cool it makes a regular guardrail a little more memorable. Nemo and I also have a few ideas on a couple of caches we are going to put out together, hopefully in the next week or two.

My question is do any of you have some pending ideas that you were thinking about and maybe you are now ready to get out there to do it soon? I don’t want the details just trying to get you all thinking about something simple and different or even just your first hide. Also if you are looking at a specific spot and I have an old cache nearby let me know, maybe I can free up some space for yours.

  • I have a couple of strange caches almost ready to put in place. Some people are saying that my caches are getting more creative all of the time, but I like to think that cachers deserve finding something different once in a while. If anyone has some ideas for a creative cache for themselves, I may be able to help them. If they can dream it, I can probably build it…

  • I was thinking the same thing and started searching youtube for creative cache containers but the results are overwhemly for containers designed for year-round warm climates. Though I dare you to do a good cactus hide.

  • I have lots of ideas but lack some of the handyman workmanship that some of them require. Some of them just require the right space to place, and don’t always include a tricky camoflauge, but the key to get into the cache.

  • It’s interesting that this topic would come up now. While at GW9, one of the podcasts talked about creative hides and it gave me an idea to help inspire others in the area.

Once the race event is over, I’m thinking about moving forward with it a bit if I can can work out some of the details.

  • I consider myself pretty new to the cache-hiding scene, but I found myself thinking the same thing lately… “time for something new”. I’ve been collecting/creating some interesting cache containers lately which I hope others will appreciate. I just finished submitting 7 new caches (all in the East Riverview area) tonight for publishing, hopefully in time for the weekend. They all use “clever cache containers” (or CCC’s). Please let me know what you think after you find them (or attempt them) as I have some other ideas that I can get published if these ones are a hit.

    • Wow, 7 in east Riverview, I thought it was pretty full all ready. I submitted one in that area yesterday still waiting for approval.

  • Ron has always been creative, love his caches.
As for new ideas, I’m still working on my Monty Python series, two published so far, each where it’s the container that is the focal point, not the hide. I have ideas for at least two more for the series (all in the McLaughlin rd/Rte 490 area), still looking for just the right containers.
And also, I’d like to do something involving levers, if only I had more time…

  • I am trying to add a little variety to my hides as well, although my ideas pale in comparison to critter. I am working on more ideas for my psycho series and am putting out a couple of different challenge caces as well, the first of which was published tonight.
