Bye Bye Winter
Tired of digging for caches in the snow? Ready to say “adios” to those pesky snowmobilers? Anxious to try out your new supply of insect repellent? If any of this applies to you or anyone you know, mark your calendars for April 10-11th. Fredericton Region Geocachers will be hosting an event-filled weekend of caching to say “Bye Bye Winter and Hello Spring”.
On Saturday, April 10th we’ll be having a CITO event for a section of highway we are adopting (if the timing doesn’t fit with the DoT’s timeline we’ll CITO another area and do the highway later), a flash-mob event and our first annual Bye Bye Winter Bash. The Bash will be held at the lodge in Odell Park and go from 5:00 – 8:00 pm. It will be a potluck supper so dig out your favorite recipes. We will also be giving out the awards/prizes for our Winter Challenge at the Bash. The geocoins for the Winter Challenge should also be ready in time for the Bash. After the Bash there will be a Bye Bye Winter Night Cap event consisting of a night cache demo followed by a hunt for same.
Sunday, April 11th we’ll be hosting our monthly breakfast, renamed “Hello Spring Breakfast” for the occasion. It will be a week earlier than usual and at a larger venue (TBA) just for this month.
Cachers from far and wide are all welcome. Bring your GPSs, your sense of fun and adventure and your appetites! Our Winter Challenge has resulted in over 300 new winter friendly hides (so far, there’s still over a month to go) in the city and surrounding area, some singles, some small, quick series and some longer hiking series. There are also many caches in Odell Park and other areas of the city. Lots to do and see here in April!
Stay tuned for more info as it becomes available.
Sounds like a lot of fun. I might have to see if I can find a place to crash for the night and go up for the event and breakfast 🙂
THis is a few days before the event in Sherbrooke to honour Opus Terra. It sounds like we will be going to visit family in Ottawa in April and again taking a week to get there, and then spending another week caching in Ottawa.
Obsessed?
Naw
Hi, I’m eavesdropping… when is the event to honour Opus Terra?
Actually this is not the post that mentions the event for Opus Terra, but here is the link to the bilingual cache page
It is April 17 near Sherbrooke QC
