Picked up a few caches while listening to the Podcast this morning before the storm. Interesting, informative and always entertaining! Thanks and keep up the good work.

  • Finally had the chance to listen to this podcast. It was interesting to had Jim52 as a special guest. Cachers with such a vast experience always have interesting stories to tell. I also took note that we had an expert locksmith on this site so the next time I lock my keys in my car I’ll make sure there is a big rock around ha ha!

Thanks for putting this one up, I can’t wait to hear about the ET Highway series.

Defiantly the best podcast for our area… Nice to hear Jim contributing. Hope to hear from many other local area cachers in the next podcast to come…

Jim are you trying to say there are only 1 good cache in every 200? I guess we need to work on hiding better more quality caches. For those who don’t want to go back in their list you can see what caches have the most favorites in the area and a click what you like best out of that. However, I would encourage everybody to add favorites as it’s very nice to go through someones list to see what you may also like. It also gives you that warm fuzzy feeling and helps to promote better caches I would think…

No pictures are a great idea. It’s a real pain carrying another piece of equipment that you could break and that eats batteries. Also, it kind of boring looking at the hand of a cacher who is alone…

Next year there should be an event where we could all get together and contribute ideas for challenges and a topic on this site. Also there should be many more hiding requirements. My first idea would be a wild card challenge where you can make up and do what you want ha!…

Nice too see so many puzzles. I think we are good for many years to come. To those who are hiding puzzle I like to say thank you and please start hiding more caches that Rev and I can find. Also, an influx of events would be a great goal for the rest of the year…

Can we please just say it! If you purposely go out to do maintenance on a cache that’s GREAT and thank you. If you find a cache while caching and you do maintenance on it because its in poor condition that’s GREAT and thank you. However, if you don’t find it and in your infinite wisdom some how you know its not there and you hide another that you are in a lack of a better word cheating. I have a feeling that these people think they are doing good or that they just don’t like dnf’s but in the minds of many other cachers you are doing something incorrect and don’t appreciate it…

I will log an event that I have been to but I will not log my own event. To me that’s just like finding your own cache. You have it in your listing so why log it. I think it’s hypocritical to say your not about the numbers and to log your own caches and events. Gc.com should have had another way to log your own event where it does not add to your numbers but where you can say thanks to everyone…

Private property is a big reason I don’t like caches very much. Too bad there was not a better way to know what is and what is not private property.

I think this year I will take notes as I go caching to have more to say when I come home to log your caches. I think we enjoy hiding because we are addicted to the emails and are very disappointed when we get a TFTC. If I get 400 emails I will read them and enjoy it very much. However. I know it’s nearly impossible to remember one part of the trail to the next…

Just a reminder to those who like caches removed from the list that those caches are still in the environment in most cases. It’s a big pet peeve for me but for many it’s no big deal that we are littering the environment…

And to those thinking about hosting an event get out there and do it…

Thanks for another great podcast and we will see you all on the trail!

Good post! I know how much you hate geotrash it has been something you talk about a lot and you are 100% right. I teach leave no trace hiking and camping so it really bothers me too.

I log my own events because it says “attended” not “found” and I attended. It also lets me know what events I have been to although I should be at the events I host so I could look at my hides list like you say. I don’t have huge numbers so I like the smiley and I did spend an hour or two attending. I think my last 4 logs have been to events.

I love events and will keep doing them, I am averaging 3-4 a year and I don’t want people to get bored with them. There were 4 events in the in the last 2 weeks and the last one only had 5 people but week night events never get many people and because Zor was only going to get 3 logs, I left him a long log.
