COAP 2012-2013 Scoring Update

Here’s a copy of the note sent out to registered COAP players today in case you somehow missed it:

Hello everyone,

The Come Out & Play contest for 2012-2013 is almost over so we thought we’d take this opportunity to say thank you to all those who participated and went out to play. We had a record number of players register this year, 126, and we hope you all enjoyed playing!

We normally send a welcome email at the beginning of the contest which outlines a few rules and instructions on how to submit your claims but this year, with the new format on Cache Up NB, we overlooked that function and were not able to communicate with you all, until now. We apologize if there was any confusion. Hopefully, we can correct that for next year!

The final instructions for you, as players, are on how you calculate your final scores:

  • If you have only done 20 tasks you need do nothing, your final score is already calculated
  • The scoring fields have been added to the submission process. Each task now has a check box to be checked if you wish the score for that task to be included in your final score.
  • All players are responsible for calculating the score they wish to be used as their final score by the end of the contest.
  • You will have the option to sort your tasks by score. Choose the 20 tasks you want to count and then save that score.
  • You may make adjustments or change the tasks you want to count and then save your final
score. All scores must be “saved” by midnight March 31st April 2nd to count.
  • Any questions, please contact us at gwenjl@rogers.com

Daryl, of Coopsquared, as in previous years, is having a geocoin made for the 2012-2013 Come Out & Play contest. It is available to anyone and he is taking pre-paid orders for it now. You can see the information and pictures and pre-order it on the Fredericton Region Geocachers Facebook page (everyone is welcome to join!) or here https://www.cacheupnb.com/come-out-play-geocoin-4th-edition/

We also have a few left from both last year and the year before. They will be available at the Cachemporium table at the Bye Bye Winter Bash on April 20th or through our Cachemporium Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/53647214303316/

The Bye Bye Winter Weekend will be held from April 19th – 21st here in Fredericton with The Bowling Shindig on Friday evening, some other events TBA on Saturday, the Bash itself on Saturday evening and the Hellooo Spring Brunch on Sunday. The events should be published soon.

In previous years, we had tons of prizes donated from vendors for the contest and spent way too much time at the BBW Bash handing them out. We didn’t go to vendors for donations this year so the prize pool is more limited than before so if anyone wishes to donate a prize or two it would be greatly appreciated.

We hope you enjoyed the contest this year and were able to Get Out & Play, at least some of the time, and we hope to see you in Fredericton in April!

  • Just to clarify:

*** Deadline has been extended to midnight April 2nd for submissions only. Caches found after March 31st will not count.
*** You may “save” your score as often as you like. The last saved score at the new deadline will be the one that counts.
*** If you completed task #44 (find a cache every day of the contest) you do not need to enter all 100 + GC codes. It is assumed you’ve kept a list somewhere so just list the first or last GC code and email your list or spreadsheet to me (gwenjl@rogers.com). In the comment section of your submission, let me know it is on its way.

Any questions, let us know! Happy Caching! 🙂
