Come Out & Play Contest/Bye Bye Winter Weekend

With less than 2 weeks left in the Come Out & Play we have 5 players who have completed all 20 tasks, 9 players who have 15 or more tasks completed and many more who are still working on them!

We’ve glad so many of you are having fun with the contest and getting out to do some winter caching. After the contest is over and winners are announced at the BBW Winter Bash we’ll be sending the players (and posting here on Cache Up NB) a short questionnaire to see what and where we can make changes or improvements for next year.

We have 4 great prize packages for the contest winners. They all consist of a cammo’d ammo can, fully stocked and ready to be hidden and each prize package will include some of the following from our very generous vendor and geocaching friends ( a HUGE shout of thanks to all of them for their support!):

Cache at Night – Cache at Night glow-in-the-dark geocoins (tres cool! – check them out here geocoins ) and lite buttons
Caching Treasures – caching themed t-shirts, swag and Gift Certificates ( visit here – thanks for the plug for the BBW Events on your site!)
Cache Raiders – Cacher Prospect geocoin, Pathtag and patch ( visit here )

World Caching, Cacher’s Toy Box and FTF Geocaching Outlet are also sending some donations .
River Valley Footwear (Fredericton) – NEOS Surveyor overshoes
Coopsquared – Celtic Circle of Life Geocoin and Zelda the Zebra Cache Buddy
Cache Slinger – 100 Mugglestones
Mud in the Face – a handmade walking stick (for the Bash)

A special thanks goes to Team Newfie Trio who supplied the ammo cans for us to paint and fill!
We also have a High Sierra lumbar pack, two unactivated 2009 NB Winter Challenge geocoins, a copy of “Geocaching – Hide and Seek With Your GPS” by Erik Sherman and various ready-to-hide caches and assorted other prizes. We also have a good selection of door prizes for the BBW Bash from vendors and cachers.

The Bye Bye Winter Weekend
Our 2nd Annual Bye Bye Winter Weekend will be held April 29- May 1st at O’Dell Park Lodge here in Fredericton. The weekend of events consists of the Bye Bye Winter Bowling Shindig GC2NGCW on Friday night, the CITO Event (by Treehugger21) Saturday morning, the Bye Bye Winter Bash GC2NGCN potluck supper Saturday evening (the Come Out & Play Contest winners will be announced and prizes awarded here), the Helllooo Spring Breakfast (by Scouter_Rick and crew) Sunday morning and a possible Flash Mob (by forestfauna) on Sunday after the breakfast. Keep your eyes peeled for the other events as they’re published and/or posted here.
There will also be lots of time to participate in that hobby we all have in common – caching! For out-of-towners who haven’t been to Freddy in a while we had over 400 new caches added for our contest last winter along with the normal new caches all year since so there are plenty for you to find.

We hope to see you there!

milosheart

We're milosheart, also known as Gwen & Terry LeBlanc. We're from Fredericton and have been involved with geocaching since March 2008. When we started caching we each had our own accounts/names. He was Frogger57 and I was milosheart. milo is a nickname of Terry's (from a song he messed up the words to) and, well, I'm his heart (we're still on our honeymoon, 6 yrs on). He logged his first 19 caches then gave up. He loves to go caching, loves the driving, travelling, meeting fellow cachers, searching and finding but could care less about the logging, planning, numbers, etc. He doesn't know how to use the GPS and has no desire to learn, doesn't have a clue what GSAK is, nor care. I love him more for just going with me, blindly sometimes! LOL So we just continued on using my original account and became team milosheart. We cache here in Freddy Beach, Moncton (Terry's hometown), Saint John (my sister and fellow cacher, eebee, lives there) and just about anywhere else we go. Yes, we are addicted. Happily.

  • I won’t say for certain, but I am pretty sure I am going to try and come up to Freddy for the whole weekend and enjoy the events, and do some caching. Can’t wait to see everyone and how the contest turns out.

  • You guys did a lot of work. Chapeau!
Now I have to say I love your camo pattern on your geocache. It is very similar to what I did on my ol’ 20hp Mercury outboard motor I have on my duck hunting boat. I even painted the gaz tank with the same pattern. So cammoed little birdies that fly around try to perch on the fake branches. LOL

  • Nice work, I’m not sure we will be able to make it to the events tho =(. I have 10 more days to complete the 6 more tasks I need, boy this is gonna be tough. I will have to plan a trip to Bathurst to grab a few specific caches.
