Help Design The Cache Up NB T-Shirt

shirt in progress

Not too long ago, I posted some news about Cache Up NB getting ready to produce it’s first run of shirts. After receiving a considerable amount of great feedback, I’ve continued my work on these shirts and have hit a bit of a roadblock. This is where YOU get the chance to have a say in how our shirts will look.

The concept of the shirt was to display our logo on the front with a large print of the province of NB with all of the published caches shown on the map. The image above is a work in progress of that artwork. It’s a good start but the image along with the caches is just not enough to make the back stand out as much as I would like it to. I’ve thought of adding some text onto it, such as “11,000 geocaches and counting” but haven’t had a good idea on how to incorporate that, or anything else, into the existing image.

So here’s where you come in. I would like you to take a look at the above artwork, and see what kind of ideas you can come up with to enhance or add to this for the back of our shirts. Post your comments, suggestions, and ideas here. If you want to download the image and modify it on your own, please feel free to send your artwork to admin@cacheupnb.com and let us know what your geocaching name is (if we don’t know it already).

The only condition on the ideas or artwork is that I would prefer to stick to 3 or 4 colours. Beyond that, the sky is the limit.

If we choose to use one or more of the ideas given, the users who submitted those ideas will receive a free shirt when they are ordered. Comments and suggestions will be taken over the course of the next few weeks. Lastly, keep in mind that the quicker you get your ideas in to us, the quicker we can turn them around into actual shirts.

So get cracking and see what kind of ideas you can come up with and send them our way.

  • 2 ideas

    1. Maybe the image of NB from the Cache Up NB logo could be replaced by this image with the caches. And on the back have the text “11,000 geocaches and counting”.

    or

    2. Put the normal Cache Up NB logo on the front (top left) and put this image on the back with the text “11,000 geocaches and counting”. With “11,000 geocaches” above the image and “and counting” under the image.

Anyway, can’t wait for the shirts and coins and stuff to come.

  • How about a picture of me wearing that image on the front of a black t-shirt while I am flexing my biceps and wearing my horse mask?

  • The only downside I see to having the “11,000 caches and counting” is that it sort of dates the shirt. But it all depends on preference. Are you looking for a style/design that is more or less timeless? Putting the number of caches in NB at the current time almost requires you to put the rough date of that number grab as well.

    • I don’t necessarily need the 11K on the shirt. It was more or less just one idea I had for text.

I agree that it does “date” the shirt, but I don’t think that’s such a bad thing. I do however like the idea of putting something like “2013” or something like that to indicate that the map is kind of like a snapshot in time

  • I almost think you could go straight-up with the style of the banner at the top of the page, but a bit simplified. “Cache UP NB” on top, the line, then “Geocaching in New Brunswick” underneath, and replace the white NB outline on the right of the text with the one you have imbedded in this post.

  • How about the small logo on the front with a small 2013 under it and have the map on the back with “11,000 and counting” above it and, to use your own words, Matt, ” the sky’s the limit” underneath.

Or put the year under the map but above “the sky’s the limit”. Or no date at all.

  • I like the idea of indicating some of the other acheivments such the Fredericton Geo Challenge, The upcoming Caching the Capital Mega Event, The NB 104th Regiment of Foot March and other accompliments that the geocaching community has worked hard at. Just saying…

  • What if you were to encapsulate the province design within a “cache”, itself? Like a tube or container of some sort? You could always have some sort of label (whether you could read it all or not) that would give the impression the cache is “Property of Cache Up NB”…so that you could incorporate the name into the shirt. And then on the back of the shirt, you could have a “survival kit” theme – what would normally be carried out and about if you were to need to repair a cache (i.e., pencil/pen; note paper; ziploc bag; little goodies to drop off).

  • I’m happy with whatever you do; my only question is why isn’t Grand Manan on the map? It has a good amount of caches on it, including the majority of NB’s remaining virtuals.

  • How about “11,000 geocaches to find [Smiley]” above the logo… and
below, a row of cache symbols (ammo can, bison tube, 35mm, tube, etc.

  • How about a more simple message like “New Brunswick Geocaching”, with cache containers encicling the words and/or your logo (a circle of cache symbols (ammo can, bison tube, 35mm, tube, etc.).

  • How about:
    ‘Proud
NB Cacher’ centered over the most white area and using a smiley for the a in cacher.
    Or same idea but with
    ‘I <3 caching in NB'

This is in line with all the big city shirts people buy ie I love NY

You could also put a few of the cache container symbols, larger, on the map. No repeats but a few types scattered around the province, large enough to stand out and be seen.

    • It appears that the “powers” deleted your comment and the reply from Rev.

      • Actually no one deleted anything. We had server issues on Monday so anything that was posted within 2 days of that got blown away by the backup being restored.

Ken’s and your comment didn’t get moderated. Just collateral damage from the server restore.

        • no worries, didn’t think that. But I took some time to wonder if I had only dreamed it all. What was kens response?
