LOL Logs

This hilarious log is from GC2005P Muggle Mania: Nemesis by Sherpa Jeff.

To date, this cache has 29 finds and 17 DNFs, some of which are mine 🙁

MedicP1 got it on his third try.

1st attempt:

October 24, 2009 by MedicP1 (109 found)

OK, So I searched for this one from 0030 till 0115hrs, and still a DNF. I believe I checked everywhere possible @ least 10 times, but know that I couldn’t have because, I repeat, still a DNF. I will try a gander in the daylight because sunshine must open some magical portal in the time space continuem making it appear, or maybe it responds to the sonic vibrations created by grumbling hungry tummies since it seems to be being found instead of eating lunch, or maybe…all these theories in my head makes it hurt. Sherpa you are a good, I hope I can be better.

2nd attempt:

October 24, 2009 by MedicP1 (109 found)

I just realized this never got posted so here it is.

@ 1200 hrs
OK so I call a truce, I searched everywhere short of ripping off all the attachments on the structure, but alas still a DNF so I am missing something.

This is what I know after 2 searchs 12 hrs apart:
1) Having searched 30 min. in the rain and getting as completely soaked as the surroundings, the cache does not reveal it’s location to you through osmosis
2) Having poked and prodded every knothole on the structure there are no secret compartments.
3) Having pushed and pulled every staple in the structure again there is no hidden door, although there is an interesting fraility of the human finger tips that revels itself, even with the tips near frozen, once the tetnus starts to coarse down the fingers into the hand.
4) The dog poop at the base of the structure is indeed real dog poop and not some cleverly placed object with a cache hidden in its base (Please don’t ask how I know this)
5) The dirty gym sock frozen to the structure, is suprisingly just that and does not contain a micro cache, this was confirmed on the second hunting session once the rain had thawed it out fully and allowed its aroma to fill the rain misted air
6) My inevitable newly aquired pneumonia should respond nicely to antibiotics.

I have not been beaten, just mildly banged up, I will be back, maybe even tomorrow (if it’s sunny!!!).

p.s. – The neighbours must be used to seeing lots of people inspecting this area, as they looked out their windows but nobody approached or asked to see what was up.

3rd, and successful, attempt:

October 26, 2009 by MedicP1 (109 found)

@ 1525 hrs

OK so there it is, it was not there the 1st night I searched I swear.

TFTC

p.s. it only took me 5 sec. this time.

milosheart

We're milosheart, also known as Gwen & Terry LeBlanc. We're from Fredericton and have been involved with geocaching since March 2008. When we started caching we each had our own accounts/names. He was Frogger57 and I was milosheart. milo is a nickname of Terry's (from a song he messed up the words to) and, well, I'm his heart (we're still on our honeymoon, 6 yrs on). He logged his first 19 caches then gave up. He loves to go caching, loves the driving, travelling, meeting fellow cachers, searching and finding but could care less about the logging, planning, numbers, etc. He doesn't know how to use the GPS and has no desire to learn, doesn't have a clue what GSAK is, nor care. I love him more for just going with me, blindly sometimes! LOL So we just continued on using my original account and became team milosheart. We cache here in Freddy Beach, Moncton (Terry's hometown), Saint John (my sister and fellow cacher, eebee, lives there) and just about anywhere else we go. Yes, we are addicted. Happily.

  • I havent been to that cache but I can certainly relate to the problem

So much more enjoyable to recieve rather than a copy and paste. When we do a bunch of caches placed by one owner, we try to write a nice log for the first then go on to tell them we’ll just be saying thanks for the remainder. Not perfect but …..

  • See I get torn about the whole unique log thing. I think it vastly depends on what the purpose of my cache run was. If I’m just out for a few caches and having fun, then unique logs are fine. But if I go out and do a LOT of caches in a day, as much as I hate seeing the copy and paste logs, I usually do the same thing because it’s hard to remember the details about all of the ones I went to that day.

I do think if I could do GPS field notes like they do on the Colorado and the Oregon I might be more likely to have better logs.

I have been using the BlackBerry lately and I log right away so I can easily put a comment worthy of the cache. Some caches deserve a good log and some don’t. A TFTC for my lamppost cache is fine but I have to admit that I do like a nice log for some others. Maybe the next time I hide a cache I will place it so that it will generate a lot of good logs and it will make me do a good hide, reverse psyhcology?
