Pa's Caching Tales

Puzzle Day

After a number of consecutive days of snowshoeing, Xcountry skiing, or geocaching, Wednesday was a stay at home and recover day.  It turned into a puzzle day.

We plan on being in Ottawa area at the end of April, so Ma has been looking at many of the puzzle caches.  She has been passing some over to me.  So each of us spent part of the day doing the kinds of puzzles we like doing.  We  solved a number of math problems, logic problems, sudokus and other puzzles of that type. Also did a few mystery types where you have to figure out where the answer is hidden, and we did some involving searching with google.

We also tried our hand at one of the new craze involving Google Street View.  We sat together at the PC and cruised Ottawa streets looking for information to get the cords. The one in Ottawa was particularly difficult compared to the one by Tiger Tracker in Moncton and the one we tried from Opus Terra in Sherbrooke.  The one in Ottawa involved such things as driving long distances counting certain objects,  locating a truck on a corner and finding the digital root of the name on the truck, and locating a man and counting the number of hats he has with him.  We are still trying to find that man and also trying to locate a sundial that will give us a clue.

I also corresponded with an Ottawa cacher to obtain information about one of his puzzles that I want to use here.  I also exchanged info with an NB cacher who was using techie tools to solve a puzzle street cache, and I received an inquiry from a local cacher about one of our puzzle caches.

Our inbox had a few logs of our puzzles which were fun to read.

All in all, it was a fun day at home. Today we will be skiing in Kouchi, and doing maintenance on the way. Friday we will probably be doing a local caching series with our caching buddies CD.

Its sure tough filling your day when you are retired.  And based on our corresondence, a number of cachers are filling their days with puzzle solving
