Sussex Area: Friar’s Nose and the Ice Wall hike
Long before we started caching, we had heard many stories about Friar’s Nose and the Ice Wall. We also saw videos on TV of ice climbers going up the Ice Wall. When Jim52 and others placed caches in that area we somehow did not get a chance to go.
We now see that the Moncton Outdoor Enthusiasts Club is planning a hike there in a couple of weeks and this may be a good opportunity for us to finally get there. Hopefully their route will give us the opportunity to grab caches.
Here is the item from their schedule
February 22, Saturday – Snowshoe to Friar’s Nose and 3 Amigos Ice Wall, Sussex. Moderate to Strenuous, 7 km. Brings Ice Gripers if you wish to walk up the mighty icy slope between the ice walls Meet at C.O.C. at 9: 00 am.
Contact Ray at 875-3817.
C.O.C. refers to the Saint George parking lot at Centennial Park (facing Dickson Blvd). The club carpools from there. The club usually accepts guests to accompany them, but it is best to check with the contact person ahead of time.
