What is your most memorable find?

I think there is a topic on MGA for this one, but as some may have done, I have elected just this one site for discussion, so I’ll bring this up again if you don’t mind. I like to hear cool caching stories (and thanks Pa for doing so!).

For us, besides lovely the Turtle Mountain day hike, it would have to be All up Hill by Mud in the Face, GC18GQ4, http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=gc18gq4&Submit6=Go

I think this is what started up our friendship with the cacher and his wife, as they probably figured: we have to meet them, just to see who those two knobs are! LOL.

It’s a very easy find, up a hill, like Mud in the Face like them. Easy? Check our logs out: First attempt July 26, 2008. Second attempt August 11, 2008. Third attempt August 24, 2008. Fourth attempt October 19, 2008 where we finally got our hand on it. That was the funniest and one of the most memorable hunt for us.

  • I don’t think I can say I have one specific “most” memorable find. Getting Ron’s Pirate cache was a lot of fun so I remember that one well. Rusty’s micro near Mapleton Park stumped me like 4 times so finally getting it was both satisfying and irritating all at the same time. The Bridgedale Multi was supposedly a super hard find and I got it on the second try and it wasn’t too bad. There was a really cool camo’d cache in Halifax that took me 20 minutes to find and it was right in front of me the whole time. That was a pretty memorable one.

I don’t think I have had any that sort of stick out as the most memorable but I’ve definitely had some good ones.

I enjoyed the “Eye of the Needle” by Jim52 and “Just another micro in the woods” in PEI.

  • A 5 – 5 cache in the Bathurst area.
The hardest cache I’ve ever found.
    Mountain Trilogy 3 GCWPZ6

  • Holy lightning Jim, you are the only one who found this one! and that dates back to 2006! Only other one who tried it is Unknown45 and he could not locate it!
    Check it out cachers.

  • Tks Rev Slippery, I think I’ve just found what cache we will do when we reach the 1000th milestone : Eye of the Needle!
    How long of a hike?

Underground Lake is a beauty spot. Eye of the Needle is an amazing place as well. The Third Vault Falls hike in Fundy is great too. So many to list, so little time….

  • I wasn’t going to respond to this one because I tend to remember caching adventures rather than individual caches. When I say adventures, I mean a caching day on backroads with friends, or a long hiking day or snowshoeing day findign or hiding caches on a trail or deep in the woods. I mean discovering a great place to see the Albert County windmills, or a 3 day trip to the end of PEI or driving roads near the Fundy Coast or spending a winter day on Shediac Island with Belladan and Gerald of CD, hiding caches for the ice walk event.

But if Ihd to pick a cache I would likely pick one with a view. The three to come to mind are:

#3 Jim’s Lewis moountain cache with its incredible blueberries

#2 KD_cachers West River Mountain micro. This was our 50th find and we will not forget it. A mountain behind a church on the way to Fundy park. A tough walk up the hill but the view is worth it. A real surprise when you get to the top

#1 Belladan’s Scenic pit with a view. We had spent a day doing backroads between Dorchester, Memramcook and Sackville. We discovered all kinds of interesting places. To get to this cache, we had to drive up a long steep hill, but the view from the top was well worth it. Check out the cache page and read all the logs by the cachers who were amazed by the view.

Scenic Pit With a View is a good one.

I would be remiss not the mention “The Body” which was hidden by Zartimus in the Ottawa area. Amazing, funny cache! If you’re in the area, it’s a must do!

    • I agree about the body.

So now you know why I didnt wanna name caches.
