Your Caching Year Thus Far

So here it is, almost two months gone in the new year. And how has your caching year gone so far?

With the cooperative winter we have been having, and only three weeks left to it, there certainly has been ample opportunity to get some caching in. That, combined with the “Come Out & Play Contest” and consecutive days challenge caches should have made some of you get off your butts and get out.

So post it here. Brag a little. Quote some numbers. Don’t be shy. Even the “Guests” and “Bots” can reply.

  • Busy. Not doing much caching but heavily involved with events and the COAP contest. But still having fun!!!!

  • Our stats say 187, so I guess it has been good. We go out every day sometimes to get a few in a series sometimes to get one or two before hitting the ski trails. We have had many outings with caching friends this year which is the best part.

  • I have 97 finds up to the end of February. I am very happy with that due to the fact that I underwent major surgery in the fall and was laid up for many months and then got very sick in February. My stats are better to date this year compared to the same time frame last year. Last year I had 1 find for the month of February. lol

  • 25 for us, and 26 today after the event. Good I guess considering the little time we had on our hands. Summer should be a bit better, and it will become even better in a couple of years when the kids are old enough to follow us in the trails.

  • I’ve been very fortunate to be able to find 236 so far this year and have maintained my consecutive days at 237.
I am lucky that I get to travel around for work so it seems no matter what part of my territory I visit, I have some downtime with un-found caches.
I even have my 6 year old asking me if I have “found my daily yet?”…

  • Thanks to the COAP contest, the Icewalk, and some new series, I had a record January with 102, and 172 so far this year.

I’m also at 74 caches placed. I get just as much satisfaction hiding a clever cache, or hiding one in a good location, as I get from finding one. I appreciate all the logs.

    Loving it more than ever.

  • Well I retired in late December so I am able to go out a lot and I have 298 finds so far this year.

  • Well …. I don’t do numbers the way some fellow cachers do …. challenge to Myself was to fill the calendar … I missed a couple of days in very early January as Chatelaine & I were travelling back from Toronto … Mother Nature was not very kind … then I missed the last two days of Jan and the first of Feb due to a geo cache injury … wrapped into one big bundle was the GPS Exhibit in Toronto, Pa & I being the Emergency Response Team for the Ice Walk, many events, hikes with fellow cachers, the Come Out & Play contest which I have finally completed and assisting Chatelaine with her cache placements … all n’ all … the best hobby one could have!!

  • i got 67 so far this yr.
soon i’ll beat last year’s 71 (i only started in november).

would have a lot more but i’ve been a bit busy. *wink*

really enjoying reading the winter-time logs, i bet they won’t be half as funny when it’s warm and dry. tales of cold wet feet and some people even brave enough to come play in the dark! i love it.

i find a lot of the time a funny log will come in at just the right time when i need a chuckle. even a tftc from a nice spot is a GREAT workday distraction for a few seconds. just remembering the spot.

    what a hoot.

  • I haven’t logged many finds this year because work has been keeping me busy but I have been able to attend some great Geocaching events. (This week alone I have been to 3) Leap Here was great fun because I was able to actually go find some geocaches with new caching friends. I had a great time that afternoon with Herrminnz before the event that likely wouldn’t have happened had Army.of.two not taken the time to put it all together.

So to answer your question, my caching year has been fantastic! Not many smileys but hey, it’s not about the numbers… is it?

    😛

Over 600 so far this year, hoping for over 4000 in 2012. We all need goals, lol.

  • So far this year I have *69*… 😉
Im surprised with this number actually as I have not been very active this winter.

  • We’ve found 51 so far, we are aiming to get all 60 of those dog puzzles in one day before the winter challenge is done. We plan as well to get the Dobson trail done and hopefully beat our number from last year (574). We are thinking of making a weekend out the Dodson trail this summer/fall. There are a few of us that we’re planning a backpacking trip. Not sure how possible that is so we’re going to do some research.

    • We’ve been mostly busy placing and planning for the past two months but now were are back in the finding groove. puzzles are not our friends but we are working on that dog 🙂

  • Am I allowed to reply? Since many of my 2012 finds were in NB… Thanks to Ma and Pa’s event in February, and a trip to Oromocto and another trip to Moncton so far this year we have 1091 finds in 2012.

We, very foolishly, have found most of the caches near home and need to drive 2 hours to have a good caching day. Therefore, whenever we can we “hit the border”.

Many thanks to all of the NB cachers for placing caches and making it so inviting to keep coming back. Next road trip is planned for the May Long weekend at Fundy!

    • You can come here and even talk to the bots if you want, they are very good listners and the only one listening to me now. While you are in here, feel free to slap someone around with a trout. We are all easy going. Just remember one thing: Everybody loves Raymo..I mean Nemo.

  • 4CeasonS, of course you are!! This is a site for ALL geocachers about NB not only for NB geocachers, you are always welcome to contribute.

  • My caching year is a disaster so far hehe, 4 finds :/. Two of those are from Micro Logics I hid for Pa in the Shippagan area. Caching has never been so dead in the Acadian Peninsula, I think I’ve had around 6 “found” log on my caches since January. I understand how people get away from this nice hobby, lack of close caches to get you going and lack of opportunities to drive an hour or two to get some caches done. Hopefully I’ll get back on track in the coming weeks.

  • PEI was once a wasteland as well. It just takes a couple of really creative and enthusiastic people to get the ball rolling, much like El Nimrod did over there.
