Bottlecap micros

While in Fredericton for the Winter bash events, I heard a couple of conversation about these bottlecap micros which were apparently quite popular in that area. I had never seen one but I heard a few people talking about cutting a bottle up and using the cap somehow to make a micro container. I had since forgotten all about it.

This morning I saw a post on the official geocaching forum about these and there was a link to a site that actually gives you a fairly good step-by-step instruction of how to build these.

When I saw what they were doing, it reminded me of what I had heard about in Fredericton. I am not sure if this is exactly the same thing that was done there but it is a need, and relatively inexpensive way to make some decent micro cache containers.

You can read the very well written how to article from this link.

  • Hi Zor,
These containers are awesome, and can be a bit tricky to find, if you hind them well enough LOL. Lori and I actually hid over 40 of them this past winter for the Fredericton Winter Challenge. Lori made all of them herself and painted them so that they will be “harder” to find. We have hidden most of them in the Tracy, NB area and a few more in Fredericton. We hid one in O’Dell Park before we had the Bye Bye Bash. Ask forestfauna and coopsquared about them. I think they loved looking for them in the woods on our “Happy Trails to You” and “Sunpoke Stroll” series.

We have made some after locating some of Lori’s and Carrie’s “Happy Trails To You” caches. Now some of them reside in Rockwood Park and here and there around Saint John area. They are pretty easy to make. The paint I used didn’t stick very well. Today, we bought some that should stick to plastic better. We will see. The cache notes available on this site work well in these tiny caches as well as the ones we picked up at the 10 year MGA event last weekend.
