Cacher’s Corner – Cache Up NB’s Podcast Episode 2

Well folks, since we seemed to get a pretty good amount of feedback from the original podcast we did, me and Rev Slippery sat down and did one for this month. We didn’t manage to snag any special guests this time but if you are interested in appearing in an upcoming episode, please feel free to post a comment on here and let us know.

This month’s topics include:

  • Latest changes to geocaching.com
  • Upcoming & recent events and caches
  • The Garmin Chirp
  • Garmin’s discontinuing of the Oregon 200, 300, and 400 series
  • The recent Dobson Trail hike
  • Puzzle caches and the ups and downs
  • Poweretrails and the numbers game
  • Plus lots more

The podcast can be listened to here, or if you subscribe to our feed on iTunes you should see it there shortly.

Please feel free to post any comments here on this post, and if you have any suggestions for topics for next month’s podcast, or any future podcast, please post them here. We’re looking for as much feedback and ideas as possible.

Also, I’m currently working on trying to come up with the best “intro” music so this month it’s taken from a song called Fallen. Hopefully I can finalize an intro someday 🙂

Yeah! number two on iTunes too, Maybe?

Well, I’m thankful that I’m listening to these all again because I didn’t realize there were so much things we can now do and use on and for geocaching.com. Unfortunately, I have know idea what many of these great things are or what they do so I can’t comment. I think I’m going to need to check out some of them beginner events as I still enter coordinates manually and with printed out cache pages…

What happens when you get Nemodidi excited?

I wonder if Grey Beast will have the same faith that Insp Gadget and Unknown45 had with their Bathurst caches?

Rev you are a genius having a 3rd ratting for puzzles. I hate adding rating as you never know the path one will take and or how or what they used to solve a puzzle. I would think there would be a place to have a peer rated cache to get some perspective also…

I never had a problem hiding a cache too close to another mysterious cache but I could see how that would be a problem and once again Rev you have a great idea…

Finding a puzzle that you did not solve is that a valid find in your opinion?

Great ideas for this chirp thing…

I feel bad for these numbers people when around 2000 finds they realize there are no prizes and nobody validated their accomplishment. What ever motivates you to get out of bed in the morning is good and I think numbers play a roll in every cachers life in one form or another…

What team were you guys referring to that could be considered as cheating? Just teasing but it’s amusing to me that not only are teams being caught cheating these days but so are solo cachers under the influence of these teams maybe? Who has that much time to police the game and at the same time is it not for our own good?

Boy aren’t events great so many wonderful cachers…

Awesome topics guys… keep them coming?

    #’s!

  • I completely agree with the rang of checking your coordinates before placing your caches. For example when I was setting up “zip line” I had a really good spot and had all the Container set up (once you find it you’ll understand) only to have to go back and tear it down because there were puzzle finals in the area. I tried emailing the CO’s but no dice.

    • I spent the entire night recalculating all our ML puzzle caches. And I am pleaed to announce that none of our puzzles was responsible for the zip line cache problem.

Now I am heading to bed.

  • hahaha 🙂 you could have simply asked us, ps we updated zip line, its much better, if your ever in the area I recommend checking it out.
