I listened to this cache today in the car while I was out grabbing a couple of micro logics.
I am really interested in learning how to make Wherigos and I didn’t quite catch it – where/when is Zor going to be offering some instruction on that?
And I really do think a podcast with a portion of it being devoted to an interview with Cache-tech and/or cache agent would be interesting. Lots of things that I think people would like to know:
-how did you become a reviewer?
-how much time do you devote to it?
-what issues do new hiders make that you wish they knew about?
-what are the neatest caches you’ve reviewed?
-what are some neat events that you’ve approved?
-how does Groundspeak choose reviewers? If you were willing to volunteer, how would you do so?
-do you approve your own caches?
-the saturation rule must come up as an issue a lot, due to the number of puzzles around. Do you have tools to help you see how close they are? Do you think a public tool could be made available that doesn’t give away the coordinates but would help hiders?
These are just 5 minutes worth of my brainstorming. I don’t think you’d be opening a kettle of fish by having a reviewer as a guest on the podcast. And for many of us, they are mysterious creatures who dwell in cyberspace, only to appear occasionally to praise or admonish us. I’d like to know more about them.
Not sure what they can tell you about becoming a reviewer. Cache tech has been a reviewer since before I started caching in December 2003. I think Cache Agent has been doing it since nearly as long. I know she was a reviewer when we stayed with her in June 2006.

My thinking is that if I was a reviewer I would stay out of this type of thing. I would be worried that I would say something that could be mis-interpreted or would point to a specific cacher as well as showing “special preference” to Cacheupnb vs other groups that may exist. In the past when they did partake in online discussions it almost always ended up stirring some pot or ruffling someones feathers, unintentionally or not. They have been quiet for the last 2-3 years after a big blowup over a somewhat innocent statement made by one of them. I think groundspeak should be the one providing the answers to the newbies and not the reviewers, they need to be as impartial as possible and just look at the merits of the listing compared to the guidelines. From what have read, reviewers are seeked out and not taken from a list of people who ask. Go to the groundspeak forums, some reviewers are more vocal than others, ours are quiet and for me very fair and reasonable, others may disagree.
Your lucky since Twitter won’t connect on GC for me. And I don’t tweet them all, geesh. lol

Now that I have done some in Europe and for anyone going that hasn’t already I recommend doing what Zor has done and we did the same and that was contact local cachers in the areas you want to focus on. They will point you in the right directions and help with translating. The language was the hardest part of caching without preparation on a cache. I also highly recommend doing some night caches there. We did one with some locals that was 6 hours long and I’ve heard most of the NC’s there are quality. For the price you’d pay for rail you could get a car rental because once you hit an area you could end up walking miles from the train stations and there is so much to see you’d rather have the option to go and see it than miss out. And the travelling was much easier than expected.
Zor when your in the UK you can also take the ferry pretty easily to Ireland as well
WOW 19 of them
